Adventure awaits!

09.02.2019

"It's a dangerous business, going out of your door... You step into the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there is no telling where you might be swept off to." - Bilbo Baggins, The Fellowship of the Ring, J.R.R. Tolkien

Starting off on a new adventure is as thrilling as it is terrifying. Some of us can't wait to bound into the unknown, while others prefer to always have our creature comforts near and dear, and never leave home if we can help it. I am one of the latter; give me a giant cup of tea and an even bigger book, and you may not hear from me for days.

To the fearless souls, I salute you; you are the leaders, the soldiers, the world-shakers, the game-changers. And I, well... I'm the one who enjoys getting swept up in the tales of your bravery, being carried off to worlds hitherto hidden or forbidden. I am the fly on the wall, the wallflower, the sidekick, the co-pilot to your swashbuckler, knave and navigator.

I am your chronicler.

I suppose I'm also that crazy writer who talks to her characters. Which is fine, right? It's a strange and glorious moment when our fictional creations not only walk into our minds, but come alive and start speaking to us. That is my goal as a writer: to breathe life into the worlds and characters that are already alive in my mind, and to introduce them to yours.

I am currently writing a fantasy series that, so far, is comprised of two books: The Unicorn Queen and The Star Prince. TUQ was borne out of my 2017 NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) project, and I plan to complete book two, TSP, during the April Camp NaNoWriMo... which is less than two months away! This blog will chronicle my journey, the ups and downs of the drafting process. Then after I've completed book two, I will be seeking beta readers and will start in on revisions for book one.

Thank you for taking this journey with me... whether or not we end up having to carry a magical ring to Mordor, I am grateful to have you join in my quest. Now... onward!

xoxo,

Erin
